2022 AlphaWolf Petit Verdot

There isn’t much of a benchmark with which to hold a Petit Verdot against. Not many wineries bottle Petit Verdot as a varietal wine, as it is generally most useful as a minor blending grape. Given the quality and typicity of our 2022 wine, we decided to put a very small amount in bottle on its own. Wild berry and blue fruits dominate the nose, with the violet floral component the variety is known for. Flavors follow suit from the aromatics, providing a mouth filling, flavorful wine that we like to call classy rustic. The highlight of this wine is the remarkably creamy texture, where Petit Verdot can typically be very structured. Dark-fruited and pure, the wine has a freshness atypical of the riper 2022 vintage. Leaving a lasting impression, this wine should age well for at least a decade.

2022 Sonnette Red Blend

The 2022 Sonnette packs a punch with its youthful crimson color and expressive notes of wild berry, black licorice, sage and brioche on the nose. On the palate, it reveals a rich texture and flavors of juicy ripe fruits intertwined with a faint savory note (likely coming from the cooler Merlot vineyard), to create a mouthwatering and memorable wine with generous, yet supple structure. This one will age well, but if enjoying in the near term, we recommend 20 - 30 minutes of decanting beforehand to allow the expressive fruit layers to emerge. Otherwise, this wine will probably be at its peak from 2026 – 2030 in regard to integration, development and full expression, and enjoyable for many years beyond.

2022 Clone 6 Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2022 vintage of Clone 6 is an amazing wine in every sense. Demonstrating the resilience of this thick-skinned clone, even in a hot year, there is a fresh, optimally-ripe expression in this wine, and a dark, opaque inky color. The aromas of blackberry, cassis, rum raisin, forest floor, graham cracker, and a hint of floral notes ooze out of the glass. Pure and focused fruits of cassis and raspberry are exhibited on the early palate, while sweet tobacco and creamy tannins with a plush texture contribute to the most elegant version of this wine in recent memory. The finish lingers, with a juicy, ripe lift that invites you back.
